NUART & SAATCHI PRESENT:
REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE
Celebrating 12 years of art on the streets
Exhibition Dates: 28 November 2017 to 7 January 2018
Saatchi Gallery - Prints & Originals Gallery - London (UK)
Nuart Gallery and Nuart Festival head to London’s famous Saatchi Gallery this November for an exhibition of prints and originals celebrating 12 years of facilitating art in the streets.
As one form becomes popularised, Nuart facilitate platforms for the next, ensuring they keep well ahead of the curve. From the first wave of stencil art to the current á la mode of figurative muralism; from human scale paste ups to urban interventions; ad busting to out and out art activism, Nuart has strived to build an organisation that reflects the true diversity and strengths of both sanctioned and unsanctioned street art practice. Generally free from both the need and desire to commercialise the culture, Nuart have been fortunate enough to be able to support those more transient and ephemeral ideas and actions that expand Street Art beyond “the wall”, whilst also recognising that not everyone engaged in this culture has the luxury to do so.
Revolutions Per Minute includes an international roster of artists who have participated in Nuart Festival over the last 12 years including the likes of Futura, Martha Cooper and Jamie Reid as well as some of the leading names in new Norwegian art. Showcasing Nuart’s history and standing within the international Street Art community as well as an exciting selection of emerging local talent. Revolutions Per Minute is a celebration of street arts debt to those movements that came before, in particular cultures built around the 12” single, hence the nod to RPM’s and a standardised size of 12” x 12” (30 x 30 cm) for each work.
About the Saatchi Gallery: The Saatchi Gallery was founded in 1985 with the aim of bringing contemporary art to as wide an audience as possible and make it accessible by providing an innovative platform for emerging artists to show their work. Over the last five years the Saatchi Gallery has hosted ten out of the top 15 most visited exhibitions in London, according to The Art Newspaper’s survey of international museum attendance, and is also ranked amongst the world’s top five most liked museums on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Google+.
Entry to all the Saatchi Gallery’s exhibitions is free.
