Launching Today: New Works on Paper by Amélie Peace & J. Carino / Upcoming: Philemona Williamson :dizzy:

We are delighted to release new works on paper today by artists Amélie Peace & J. Carino

Amélie Peace - Catching Limbs

Amélie Peace is a French London-based artist working both in painting and printmaking. Her practice delves into the experience of touch and the human need for physical connection. The psychophysical dialogues she creates in her works explore the emotional, sexual and gendered experience. She questions what it means to have a body, to share that body, how each exchange with another person alters one’s sense of their physical self.

The intensity of colour in Peace’s work is used as a megaphone to portray the themes she explores. What it means to speak without words, the power that can be found in the unspoken language of the gestural. In the artist’s paintings, the fourth wall is broken, which entices the viewer to become part of the theatrical puzzles Peace puts together in her pursuit to depict human emotion.

J. Carino - Orange Grove

J. Carino is a Riverside, California-based figurative artist working in a variety of mixed-media. Influenced by many decorative arts, his paintings and drawings explore ideas of queerness, identity, sensuality, and nature through richly patterned, coloured, and layered figures and flora.

His work depicts monumental nude, queer figures in landscapes that are both idyllic and tinged with danger. Wrestling with ideas of traditional fertility and queer intimacy, J. Carino explores how the creation of our sense of self is connected with the natural world.

Original Work on Paper (Unique)
Medium: Pastel and coloured pencil on paper

Philemona Williamson - A Patient Spirit

Philemona Williamson’s vibrantly coloured, dynamic paintings feature adolescents intermingled and engaged in evocative poses and actions within mysterious settings. They suggest various transitions and stages of life from childhood through adulthood.

Of indeterminate age, gender, and ethnicity, the figures often seem caught in awkward, enigmatic moments which seduce the viewer into a labyrinth of open-ended questions. Poetically titled, the works invite the viewer to use one’s imagination to try to interpret their complex, allegorical narratives.

Limited Edition Print
Medium: Archival Pigment Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm
Edition of 25
Dimensions: 42 x 52 cm (16.5 x 20.5 in)
Signature: Signed, dated and numbered on reverse

Takk for info/bilder, @Toris64
Jeg ser jo nå at de har grafitti (tekst) på praktisk talt alle verk. Det er bare mer subtilt enn hos f.eks. MW.
Var først på dette siste at jeg la ordentlig merke til det. Observant…

Magnus Gjøen er i Bergen. Noe du kjenner til @azidops ?

Det er Galleri Geo som vanligvis samarbeider med ham.
