âOil Diverâ is my newest painting from The Norwegian Heritage Collection. The motif is inspired by a candy box from 1965 but made in my Supergraphic style with no outlines and vibrant colors. The water is replaced with oil as this has been Norways main source of income and has served as a collective sugar high, creating wealth but also destroying our environment. Just like the candy, the taste is sweet, but it will rot your teeth! The hand painting is coated in my signature blend of resin and glitter, giving it a candy like feel and appearance. Resin is a form of plastic not derived by petrochemicals, and is meant to emphasize the duality of the pretty and glossy front we see, which contrast the dark and dirty way we got there! - Harald Austad
