Harald Austadâs philosophy is âminimal shapes, maximum colorâ.
The medium is hand painted acrylic on wood. Each color has 7 coats to achieve ultimate saturation and are covered in his signature blend of resin & glitter to add an extra dimension to the artworks.
âI got inspired by the black and white shadow portraits I found of my great grandmother, but I turn it into my colorful and Supergraphic style.â
The renowned Corey Helford Gallery invited Harald Austad to display a unique painting for their 10th annual âArt Collector Starter Kitâ exhibit.
The show focus is on making art available to new collectors by offering small sized original artworks from their selection of top artists in the new contemporary art scene.
Harald Austad usually paint portraits of real people but went in a different direction for this exhibition.
âFinding a silhouette that most people in the world can recognize can be difficult. Barbie is one of the few icons almost everyone instantly knows, just by seeing the shadow, so when Corey Helford Gallery requested her for their latest exhibit, it was a perfect match.â
Corey Helford is a beautiful gallery downtown Los Angeles. The exhibit was filled with a curated collection of contemporary artists, with a full house from start to finish.
Tropes collide in a print on metal by Robert Nava.
Death Carrier Bunny, as its title suggests, brings together saccharine and morbid archetypes to absurd effect. Skulls adorn the back of a bright white rabbit surrounded by swathes of blood-like drips. Cartoonish yet gestural, and laced with art historical irreverence, the painting is emblematic of Navaâs monster-filled oeuvre â uninhibited by specificity.
For an edition of 35 prints the painting has been transposed to aluminium sheets, lending an industrial sheen to the surface of the artwork, and finished with flashes of white gold leaf. Intentional tarnishing of the exposed metal makes every print unique.

ROB PRUITT Hoarfrost Pandas

The new edition silkscreens will be available to be purchased separately, in sets of four, or all together for the complete set. The inspiration for Hoarfrost Pandas comes from the phenomenon of hoarfrost, when moisture on a clear night becomes frozen and creates a feathery, fluffier frost, and features Pruittâs iconic panda immersed in the cool, glistening environment.
