Tracey Emin | New Print Portfolio
Launching Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th March 11AM (UK GMT)
Counter Editions and The National Portrait Gallery are extremely proud to announce a special fundraising collaboration.
Tracey Emin has made a series of four limited edition prints which relate to and reconfigure the bronze relief portraits she created for the gallery’s new 4 meter high front doors. Representing ‘every woman throughout time’ these portraits are a celebration of women from different walks of life, known and unknown – mothers, daughters, sisters and friends – and a contemporary response to the under-representation of women in historical art collections.
We look forward to sharing more details with you in the lead up to the launch on the 26th & 27th March.
Our first print collaboration with artist Gao Hang involved a multi-step process that began with an archival pigment ink base print, then moved to Gao Hang’s studio for the application of the perfect neon green hue using airbrushed acrylic. Finally, the edition was sent to New York for the addition of a layer of silkscreen ink. Gao Hang’s artistic practice delves into the examination of digital graphics as contemporary “found objects,” reflecting the interplay between modern technology and the raw essence of digital imagery.

“The mirror is a powerful tool because it forces you to deal with yourself on a deeper level. Conceptually, paintings are like mirrors. They’re a form of creative expression by the artist. ‘This is one of my points of view on the world – I’m presenting to you a gift.’ With that, I invite viewers to engage with my latest work and explore the reflections it may evoke.”
–Mickalene Thomas
In celebration of award-winning artist Mickalene Thomas’s upcoming show “All About Love” at The Broad Museum, this limited-edition print employs a variety of printing techniques and unconventional materials that Thomas has become known for over the course of her career. Its elaborate composition centers around one of Thomas’s muses, Din, who has been featured in her work for over a decade. Out of the artist’s many sitters, Din displays a distinct aptitude for transformation and effortlessly engages with her luxurious environment.
Drawn from her 2023 painting of the same name, this new
print serves as a beacon in her ever-expansive oeuvre.

A new lithographic edition by Chantal Joffe, exclusive to House of Voltaire, specially made on the occasion of Studio Voltaire’s 30th Anniversary.
Joffe is a London-based artist known for her intimate portraits of women and girls. These portraits often have a distorted yet carefully considered air about them, expressing emotional themes and a sensitivity to the subject.
This traditional lithographic edition depicts the artist’s daughter Esme playing guitar in their living room, and takes its name from one of Esme’s songs. The soft wash of blue-grey tones combined with the fluidity of Joffe’s mark-making builds a familiar sense of intimate domesticity, and imbues the image with the musicality of the scene.
Throughout the anniversary year, a series of limited editions by leading international artists will be released to raise important funds for Studio Voltaire’s artistic and community programmes.

Serio Press is pleased to announce our next limited edition print is with artist Lily Wong.
We visited Wong’s Brooklyn based studio back in January of 2022. Filled with sketches and half finished paintings on large sheets of cotton rag, we fell in love with Lily’s vibrant work on paper.

Our collaboration with Lily Wong, the artist’s first serigraph, will release later this month in a limited edition of 40 prints.

Lily Wong (b. 1989 Seattle, USA) is a figurative painter whose work taps into the vulnerabilities and complexities of yearning. Personal and poetic, the protagonists in her work are made of experiences that extend beyond the physical. Her deliberately warped spaces invite audiences to engage in previously unknown, yet familiar, territories. Color is its own character, a pulse in the circulatory system of the work which is often a map of something beyond the depictive.
Her art has been exhibited at:
Lyles & King, New York
Various Small Fires, Los Angeles
Semiose, Paris
Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, Los Angeles, & New York
Green Family Art Foundation, Dallas
Galerie LJ, Paris
Kapp Kapp, New York and Philadelphia
Fredericks & Freiser, New York
Half Gallery, New York
and others.
