Announcing the Release of Ayako Rokkaku’s Woodcut Print Untitled 3

**Since 2020, Ayako Rokkaku has been working in ongoing collaboration with artisans who carry on the tradition of Japan’s woodcut print techniques. While remaining committed to her signature technique of painting with her fingers, she places deep trust in the artisans’ expertise and seeks to draw out qualities that only woodcut printmaking can achieve. These collaborations are a major focus of the documentary film The Baren and the Small Knife: Ukiyo-e stories connecting the ages (directed by Takako Matsumoto), scheduled for release in October 2025. Now, we are delighted to announce the release of Rokkaku’s long-awaited third woodcut print, Untitled 3. Sales will be conducted by drawing, and entry procedures and other details are provided below.

To mark the release of the new work, all three of Ayako Rokkaku’s woodcut prints will be on view at the showroom of the Adachi Institute of Woodcut Prints. We invite you to enjoy the exhibition as well as the film.

HENI is delighted to release Thank You God, 40 new works on paper by acclaimed American artist Wes Lang.

The series develops the contemplative style of Lang’s works on paper through a reinterpretation of one of the artist’s recurring motifs: the bird.

The artworks are available by application on HENI Primary from 13 October 2025.

The artworks are acrylic, crayon, pencil and oil pastel on paper and are presented in a walnut veneer frame. The works measure 68.6 x 87.9 cm (framed) and each artwork is signed on the verso by Wes Lang.

In Thank You God, Lang makes birds the central focus, depicted alongside skulls and flowers as well as cursive text. He has long used birds, a motif drawn from memories of his grandmother, as symbols of hope and positivity. In these new works, he returns to the motif as a symbol for his newest child, who was born two days after the series was completed.

The artworks are on display at HENI Gallery until 27 October 2025.

YUSUKE by Jean Jullien

Jean Jullien and Case Studyo ride another creative wave together with the release of ‘YUSUKE’, a hand-tufted rug that captures the thrill of surfing and the poetry of the sea.

Depicting a lone surfer gliding across the waves, YUSUKE is a celebration of movement and connection - an homage to the artist’s deep love for the ocean. The title, meaning both courage and friend in Japanese, reflects the profound bond between surfer and sea - the dance between human instinct and the untamed force of the elements.

Rendered in Jullien’s signature fluid lines and expressive color palette, the rug translates his painterly language into texture and form. Each brushstroke becomes a tuft, each wave a woven gesture, turning the floor into a canvas of motion and emotion.

Both artwork and invitation, YUSUKE reminds us of the freedom found in moving with the rhythm of nature, and the quiet joy of surrendering to its flow.
