In a painting inspired by Lucian Freudâs portrait of Francis Bacon, Antony Micallef favored thick, abstract impasto over discernible human features.
Printmakers at Make-Ready worked closely with Micallef to achieve something he initially thought impossible. Layer upon layer of cured ink and satin varnish recreate the depth and texture of his painting.
